Full blackout for a nursery, soft dimout for the living room, or sunscreen that still lets you see out each blind custom made to the exact opacity your room needs.
Full Blackout, When You Actually Need the Dark
A blackout roller blind isn’t just a darker curtain. It’s a tightly woven, light sealed fabric that stops streetlights, sunrise and neighbouring units from reaching your room at all.
Beyond sleep, blackout fabric also works as an insulator. By blocking direct sunlight before it hits your glass, it reduces the heat your room absorbs during the day, so your air conditioner isn’t working as hard to catch up in the evening. It won’t replace proper window glazing, but paired with good window seals, most households notice a real difference in how quickly a room cools down.
Which Light Level Do You Actually Need?
Most people search for “blackout roller blinds” when what they really need is somewhere between dimout and full blackout. Here’s the difference, so you order the right one the first time.

This is our first time engaging wallux for their service attended by cynthia & vince. We installed motorised blind for our main living room and manual blinds for the dining room. The blinds are of excellent quality. Reliable! No disappointment! Installation done pretty fast too by professional installer. Overall it was a pleasant and smooth experience from the start of enquiry until installation is done. Might be coming to get another blind next time for other room. Thank you Wallux!

I have engaged Wallux to replace my existing venetian blinds as they old and mechanism was not working well. They were quick to respond and came to my house fast to take the measurements. Also gave my a variety of colours to choose from. Their pricing which includes installation was very reasonable and I will definitely recommend them. Installation was done within a week without any issues. Thank you Wallux! Highly recommended for those who intend to change or purchase new blinds

The quality of service provided by Wallux is excellent. When informed of an error in the pasting of the wallpaper, they rectified the issue as soon as the stock was available. Cynthia is very friendly and goes the extra mile for the customers. The installation of the Korean blinds were excellent. I would recommend their services and products.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. “Roller blind” describes the mechanism, the tube and chain or motor that rolls the fabric up and down. “Blackout” describes the fabric itself. So a blackout roller blind is simply a roller blind fitted with light sealing fabric instead of sheer or sunscreen fabric. You’re not choosing between a roller blind and a blackout blind, you’re choosing which fabric goes into your roller blind.
- A fully blacked out room can feel too dark during the day if you also want natural light sometimes, dimout is a better middle ground for shared use rooms.
- Fabric alone won’t stop heat that’s already trapped inside the room, it works best alongside decent window seals.
- Poor fit leaves light gaps at the edges, which is why we custom measure every window rather than using standard sizes.
- Like any fabric blind, it needs occasional wiping down to stay dust free.
We’ll walk you through the trade offs for your specific room during your free measurement visit, so you order the right fabric the first time.
